Bezos caught the area bug at age 5 whereas watching Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin’s moon touchdown on July, 20, 1969. He selected the 52nd anniversary for his personal launch.

Enamored by area historical past, Bezos named his New Shepard rocket after Alan Shepard, the primary American in area, and his larger, still-in-development New Glenn rocket after John Glenn, the primary American in orbit.
