NEW DELHI: Senior Congress chief Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday stated Hindi Diwas must be recast as Bhasha Diwas, asserting that it’s excessive time that each Indian language is given the prominence it deserves.

Hindi Diwas marks the day when in 1949 Hindi, probably the most spoken language within the nation, was adopted as one of many official languages.

“It’s excessive time that we give each Indian language the prominence it deserves.

Hindi Diwas must be recast as Bhasha Diwas — celebrating ALL Indian languages,” Ramesh tweeted.

India is stronger collectively once we rejoice our diversities, the Rajya Sabha chief added.

Earlier, former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, in a tweet on Hindi Diwas, stated, “To extend the understanding of 1 language, the data of different languages must also be elevated.”
