5.4 Magnitude Earthquake In Sikkim, Tremors Felt In North Bengal, Assam


Earthquake: Aside from Sikkim, tremors have been felt in Assam, north Bengal and Bihar

Gangtok: An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 struck close to Sikkim’s capital Gangtok on Monday night time.

The epicentre of the earthquake was 25 km east-southeast (ESE) of Gangtok, Sikkim, the Nationwide Middle for Seismology stated. The earthquake struck at 8:49 PM at a depth of 10 km from the floor.

In line with reviews, aside from Sikkim, tremors have been felt in Assam, north Bengal and Bihar.

Tremors have been additionally felt in some components of Nepal and Bhutan.

In Sikkim, the earthquake triggered panic. Many individuals rushed out of their homes as precaution.

“Your entire city shook badly. It was a bit scary,” Karma Tenpa, a Gangtok resident, instructed NDTV on telephone.

No casualties or injury to property have been reported to this point.
