74.53% turnout for Malappuram LS bylection

MALAPPURAM: The byelection within the Malappuram Lok Sabha seat held together with the meeting elections on Tuesday recorded 74.53% turnout (as per the report acquired by 9pm). In 2019, the turnout for the parliamentary constituency, which includes the Kondotty, Manjeri, Perithalmanna, Mankada, Malappuram, Vengara and Vallikkunnu meeting constituencies, was 75.5%. Six candidates — UDF chief Abdu Samad Samadani, LDF chief V P Sanu, BJP chief A P Abdullakutty, SDPI chief Tasleem Rahmani and two independents Sayyid Sadique Ali Thangal and Yoonus Saleem —  are within the fray for the seat. All of the candidates expressed confidence of successful.

Sanu informed TNIE that Muslim League strongholds witnessed low turnout and areas like Kondotty and Perinthalmanna the place LDF has a robust base recorded excessive turnout. “The 2 elements will assist my victory,” Sanu mentioned.
