B.C. cargo ship fires could take days to place out: coast guard

The Canadian Coast Guard says it might be a number of days earlier than fires may be put out inside containers on a cargo ship anchored off the Victoria coast.


The company says in a press release that point estimate is from a salvage grasp and workforce that have been capable of board the MV Zim Kingston Monday evening.


Danaos Transport Co., the ship’s proprietor, says it’s co-operating with Canadian officers and has contracted a firefighting firm to assist combat the fires.


It says in a press release that it has permission from the Canadian Coast Guard to permit technical consultants and two marine firefighters on board the ship.


The corporate says the difficulty started when two containers on the ship caught fireplace, whereas one other 40 fell into the water because it approached Vancouver, then anchored for repairs within the Strait of Juan de Fuca.


Canadian officers say not less than 10 containers caught fireplace and crews battled the flames over the weekend.


The coast guard says it’s monitoring air high quality alongside Victoria’s waterfront and has not recorded any uncommon or harmful adjustments brought on by the fireplace.


Seven crew members have been additionally transported again to the vessel, it added.
