BJP names Mahesh Jeena as its bypoll candidate from Salt in Uttarakhand

DEHRADUN: The BJP on Monday named Mahesh Jeena as its candidate for the Salt Meeting constituency in Almora district of Uttarakhand, the place a bypoll is scheduled to be held on April 17.

The bypoll to the seat was necessitated after the premature demise of MLA Surendra Singh Jeena resulting from COVID-19 in November final yr.

Mahesh Jeena is the elder brother of Surendra Singh Jeena, who loved the repute of being an lively and farsighted chief devoted to the event of his constituency.

By fielding Mahesh Jeena from the seat, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Social gathering (BJP) hopes to reap the benefit of his late brother’s good work in his constituency and the sympathy issue.

Mahesh Jeena will file his nomination on Tuesday, the final date for the submitting of nominations for the bypoll, state BJP media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan mentioned.

Based on the voters’ record ready in January, there are 95,241 voters within the Salt Meeting constituency — 48,682 males and 46,559 ladies.
