CPI(M) Calls for Enquiry Into Corruption Allegation In Rafale Deal

The BJP has dismissed as “fully baseless” the allegations of corruption within the Rafale deal.

New Delhi: The Communist Social gathering of India (Marxist) has demanded an enquiry into the Rafale fighter jet deal after a French media report claimed that Euro 1.1 million was paid to a “intermediary” by the plane producer.

The BJP has denied the allegation made within the French media report as baseless.

“The present revelation in a French media portal that a million euros have been paid to a ”intermediary” within the deal to purchase 36 Rafale jets has as soon as once more raised the problem of kickbacks and different unlawful funds within the Rafale deal. The report relies on an evaluation of the Dassault firm’s accounts of 2017,” CPI(M) politburo stated in an announcement.

“The dogged refusal by the (Narendra) Modi authorities to order a probe into the Rafale deal raises suspicion that it has one thing to cover within the matter. The CAG audit report couldn’t clearly look into the problem of unlawful funds,” it stated.

It demanded a high-level investigation into the cancellation of an earlier order and the issuance of a contemporary order for 36 fighter jets.

In keeping with Mediapart, its report was primarily based on an investigation by the nation’s anti-corruption company Agence Francaise Anticorruption (AFA), which discovered that after inking the deal, cost was made by Dassault Aviation, the producer of Rafale fighter jets.

In keeping with the report, the producer has not been in a position to reply the queries posed by the AFA.
