NEW DELHI: The Election Fee on Wednesday determined to maintain in abeyance the schedule of elections to fill three Rajya Sabha seats from Kerala after the Regulation Ministry flagged some points.
“The fee had introduced schedule for biennial election for 3 seats to Council of States (Rajya Sabha) from Kerala. In the mean time, a reference has been obtained from the Ministry of Regulation and Justice. Pending examination of the reference, the fee has determined to maintain the aforementioned proposed notification and schedule in abeyance until additional orders,” the fee stated in a press release.
Election to 3 Rajya Sabha seats from Kerala falling vacant subsequent month was to be held on April 12.
Abdul Wahab of the IUML, Ok Ok Ragesh of the CPI(M) and Vayalar Ravi of the Congress are retiring on April 21.
The notification for the biennial elections was to be issued on Wednesday.
Members of the legislative meeting elect Rajya Sabha members.
The MLAs of the outgoing meeting, wherein the ruling LDF has a majority, had been to elect the three new members.
Kerala meeting elections might be held on April 6 and counting will happen on Could 2.
