KALPETTA: A 47-year-old girl was trampled to demise by a wild elephant underneath Chethayalam forest vary in Wayanad on Friday morning. The deceased is Neykuppa Vellilatt Ganga Devi. Although Ganga Devi was rushed to hospital, she couldn’t be saved. Agitated native residents, who met forest officers and sought fast compensation, apart from steps to stop man-animal battle, had been pacified by the officers.
That is the third demise resulting from jumbo assault in Wayanad this yr. In early January, a plantation property labourer, Parvathi Parashuraman, died in hospital after she was attacked by an elephant at Kunnambatta close to Meppadi whereas returning dwelling after work.
