Maharashtra: 5 Naxals killed in anti-terror operation in Gadchiroli

NAGPUR: 5 Naxals have been killed on Monday morning in an operation performed by police towards the rebels in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district, a senior police official mentioned.

The anti-Naxal operation continues to be on, he mentioned.

“5 Naxals have been killed within the operation in Khobramenda forest space of Gadchiroli,” the official mentioned.

On Saturday, the district police seized a rifle and three stress cooker bombs which Naxals have been allegedly planning to make use of to ambush safety forces, an official earlier mentioned.

Performing on an details about the rebels gathering in giant numbers in a forest right here towards the backdrop of ‘Naxal week’ being noticed by them, the Gadchiroli police’s C-60 commandos had performed an anti-Naxal operation on Saturday in Hetalkasa forest space.

After firing from either side for about an hour, the rebels had fled from the spot abandoning their belongings.
