AMRAVATI: An offence of violation of the mannequin code of conduct has been registered towards BJP candidate in Maharashtra Legislative Council ballot Nitin Dhande after a rally was held in his assist right here with out permission from authorities, an official stated on Monday.
After Shiv Sena’s Shrikant Deshpande, Dhande is the second candidate to be booked for alleged breach of the election code in drive for the December 1 council ballot from the academics’ constituency within the Amravati division.
Divisional Commissioner Piyush Singh stated that an election rally in Dhande’s assist was held on the lawns of a resort right here on Sunday with out taking permission from authorities. The rally was addressed by BJP chief Devendra Fadnavis, amongst others.
Singh, who can also be the returning officer for the ballot, advised PTI that no permission was looked for the rally which was attended by almost 500 academics. “We now have a video recording of the occasion,” he stated including that Dhande was booked below related sections of the IPC and the Maharashtra Police Act.
The biennial election to 5 graduates’ and academics’ constituencies of Maharashtra Legislative Council can be held on December 1. Of the 5, three are graduates’ constituencies from Aurangabad, Pune and Nagpur divisions, and two are academics’ seats from Pune and Amravati divisions.
These are constituencies through which solely graduates and academics, respectively, are eligible to vote.
