KOCHI: The weatherman on Saturday issued an orange alert for the districts of Ernakulam and the hilly Idukki in Kerala for the day, indicating heavy rainfall.

The India Meteorological Division (IMD), in its bulletin, issued a yellow alert for the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts.

Yellow alert is issued when remoted heavy rain is probably going.

Widespread rains have been reported from Pathanamthitta and Kottayam districts.

“In Idukki, now we have average rains and there’s nothing to fret as of now,” Collector Sheeba George mentioned.

Sources from Pathanamthitta district informed PTI that minor landslides have been reported from deep forests close to Seethathodu and Angamoozhy but it surely was early to evaluate the injury.

The Kerala State Catastrophe Administration Authority (KSDMA) issued a warning that cyclonic circulation was doubtless close to Kerala and Lakshadweep on account of which heavy rains for immediately and tomorrow could happen.

In the meantime, the administration of Kottayam felicitated and conveyed its gratitude to the military troops from Pangode Navy Station for executing relentless reduction operations.

The military deployed round 40 personnel at Kottickal in Kottayam district for the rescue and reduction operations.

On October 15 and 16, the State acquired heavy rains leading to landslides and flash-floods in central amd southern components that killed over two dozen folks.
