NEW DELHI: The Press Membership of India on Wednesday handed a decision urging the federal government to take away the restrictions imposed on the entry of media individuals into parliament complicated amid COVID-19 menace.
In a seminar on ‘seventy fifth Anniversary of Independence and seventieth Anniversary of Constitutional Democracy’, a number of audio system registered their protest in opposition to the restrictions on media into press gallery and central corridor of the parliament.
Lok Sabha MP N Okay Premachandran supported the demand without spending a dime entry to media individuals inside the parliament, saying “denial of entry to them is in opposition to freedom of press as a result of media is a part of the parliament”.

The decision by the Press Membership of India (PCI) acknowledged that “unwarranted restrictions at present imposed on media individuals entry into parliament should not in consonance with the letter and spirit of Article 19(1) (a) of the Structure”.
