RCMP say officers and first responders had been known as to the motel for a report of an unresponsive baby shortly after 9 p.m. PT
The kid was transported to an area hospital and pronounced lifeless.
Police say the North Cowichan Duncan Basic Investigation Part is main the investigation, with help from the Forensic Identification Part and front-line officers.
‘It is heartbreaking’
The BC Coroners Service can be conducting a separate investigation, RCMP stated.
On Saturday, officers might be seen accumulating proof on the Falcon Nest Motel.
The motel’s supervisor, Valma Sampson, stated a household had been within the suite.
“It is heartbreaking,” Sampson stated, including that she herself has a five-year-old. “It is a unhappy scenario.”
RCMP Employees Sgt. Janelle Shoihet stated sufferer providers have been supporting the household.
