Veteran director Crossbelt Mony dies at 86

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Veteran cinematographer and director Ok Velayudhan Nair (Crossbelt Mony) died at his residence at Vattiyoorkavu right here on Saturday evening. He was 86. Cremation shall be held on Sunday. 

Crossblet Mony started his profession in cinema as a technical assistant at Merryland Studio, Nemom in 1956. 5 years later, he turned unbiased cinematographer for Kalpadukal directed by Ok S Antony. His debut directorial enterprise was Midumidukki launched in 1967. 

After his film Crossbelt, starring Satyan and Sarada turned an excellent hit, Velayudhan started to be often called ‘Crossbelt Mony’. It was an adaptation of N N Pillai’s play of the identical identify. He had arrange a film studio, Sreekrishna Studio, at Vattiyoorkavu within the ‘70s. A lot of his films had been produced there. Later, he transformed the studio as his home and was dwelling there.
