BJP chief Himanta Biswa Sarma’s campaigning ban lowered from 48 to 24 hours: EC

A day after the ban, the Election Fee (EC) lowered the interval of debarment of Assam Minister and BJP chief Himanta Biswa Sarma from campaigning– from 48 hours to 24 hours.

This transfer comes after BJP introduced that it’ll transfer EC in opposition to the chief’s campaigning ban on ‘authorized and factual’ grounds. 

In his illustration to the Election Fee, Sarma had pleaded to scale back the ban on the grounds that he’s himself a candidate within the constituency which is scheduled to go for polls on April 6.

The Congress had approached the EC demanding motion in opposition to Sarma for his comment that Bodoland Individuals’s Entrance chief Hagrama Mohilary could be despatched to jail by means of central probe company NIA if he does “extremism” with insurgent chief M Batha.
