Two held for ‘abandoning’ two-month-old lady in Surat

Surat police Saturday arrested a pair for allegedly abandoning a two-month-old child on the roadside in Pandesara space. The couple claimed to the police that the toddler lady was born to their daughter out of wedlock.

A milk vendor had noticed the toddler noticed mendacity on the roadside on June 7 and knowledgeable the police. The kid was despatched to the New Civil Hospital for therapy.

Police had registered an offence underneath IPC part 317 and began probe into the incident. The accused are recognized as Manoj Sahoo, a powerloom employee, and his spouse Ashaben Sahoo, each residents of Shree Ramnagar society in Pandesara and natives of Madhya Pradesh.

Assistant Commissioner J Ok Pandya instructed The Indian Specific that accused was nabbed after checking a number of CCTV footages.

“In one of many footages, we noticed the couple travelling on a bicycle with the lady holding one thing in her hand wrapped in a material. After seven minutes, they have been seen returning and he or she was not having something in her arms.”

Pandya added, “The couple instructed us that the kid was born on March 31 to their 19-year-old daughter, who was in a relationship, out of wedlock.”
